The Fields Institute Turns Twenty-Five
Celebrating 25 years of mathematical research excellence.
2017 marks the 25th anniversary of the Fields Institute for Research in Mathematical Sciences.
The Fields Institute, now located on the University of Toronto campus, first opened its doors in 1992 at the University of Waterloo. Over 25 years, it has become an international hub for mathematical research and innovation, hosting thousands of people annually for seminars, workshops, conferences, and public outreach events in a building specifically designed for collaboration—all revolving around the iconic spiralling staircase.

THE FIELDS INSTITUTE TURNS TWENTY-FIVE: THE BOOK
This anniversary collection of stories comes from those who were there at the beginning, as well as from the many people who helped the Fields Institute develop over the last 25 years. The Fields Institute is especially grateful to Elaine McKinnon Riehm for initiating the project and for all her editorial efforts.
We invite you to take a look — and immerse yourself in our first quarter-century.
