Postdoctoral Fellowships
Postdoctoral fellowships available at the Fields Institute
Available Postdoctoral Fellowships with Fields Institute programs are listed here: https://www.mathjobs.org/jobs/FIELDS . Qualified candidates who have recently completed a PhD in a related area of the mathematical sciences are encouraged to apply. The Fields Institute is committed to diversity and welcomes applications from women, members of underrepresented groups, and persons with disabilities.
Applicants seeking postdoctoral fellowships funded by other agencies (such as NSERC or international fellowships) are encouraged to request the Fields Institute as their proposed location of tenure, and should contact the Fields Institute Directorate to arrange for an invitation.
Fields Postdoctoral Fellowships (FPDF)
Six-month fellowships are awarded for participation in one of the Institute's major thematic programs. Typically, six to eight FPDFs are awarded for each program. These fellowships are normally offered in conjunction with an Affiliate or Principal Sponsoring University, through which a further period of support may be possible. Applicants must indicate the program in which they want to participate in their application's cover letter, and include the names of faculty members at Affiliate or Principal Sponsoring Universities with whom the applicant would like to work. Applicants are also encouraged to apply directly to the Institute's Affiliate or Principal Sponsoring Universities.
The stipend is \$30,000 for a six-month term, which will be prorated for less than six-month appointments. Please visit this page to see available positions: https://www.mathjobs.org/jobs/FIELDS .
Jerrold E. Marsden Postdoctoral Fellowships (MPDF)
One of the Fields Postdoctoral Fellows associated with each of the Institute's major thematic programs may be awarded the prestigious Jerrold E. Marsden Postdoctoral Fellowship with an enhanced stipend. No separate application is required. Nominations for these fellowships are made by Thematic Program organizers directly to the Fields Institute Directorate.

Fields-Ontario Postdoctoral Fellowships (FOPDF)
Two-year fellowships with an annual stipend of \$70,000 plus benefits. Two to three new FOPDFs are awarded each year, typically in connection with a major thematic program although this is not a requirement. These prestigious fellowships involve a six-month period at the Fields Institute and an eighteen-month period at one or more of the Institute's Principal Sponsoring Universities. The Fields Institute contributes \$55,000 per year for FOPDFs and the Principal Sponsoring University provides \$15,000 per year plus benefits. A FOPDF may be renewable for a third year upon request from the supervisor pending approval by the Fields Institute Directorate. FOPDF may include a teaching requirement of a single one-semester course per year. Nominations for these fellowships are made by Thematic Program organizers, or other potential supervisors, directly to the Fields Institute Directorate.

Fields-AIMS-Perimeter Postdoctoral Fellowship
One-year postdoctoral fellowships awarded jointly by the Fields Institute, the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences - Next Einstein Initiative (AIMS-NEI), and the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics. This is a unique opportunity for recent PhDs who are African nationals working in areas of mathematical sciences or fundamental theoretical physics. The goal is to support the careers of young researchers who have a commitment to advance science in Africa. The selected fellow will be invited to pursue their research either at the Fields Institute, Perimeter Institute, or jointly at both institutions, depending on the fellow's research interests.
We encourage applicants to seek other funding, for example from the IMU–Simons African Fellowship Program.
