Training Workshop on Diffusive Processes in Physiological Media
Description
This workshop will utilise the formal mathematical procedure of homogenisation to produce numerically solvable time-dependent reaction-diffusion equations . These models will simulate the coupling of cells in tissues and allow an investigation into how the complexity of the micro-scale cellular function affects the macro-scale wave patterns. The workshop will assume no prior knowledge of the modelling of cells or homogenisation but will provide the student with a grounding of how cellular processes can be treated in a partial differential fashion. Problems will be set for the trainees and it is expected that they will be able to solve relatively basic problems of coupled cells which have a simple function.
