Noncommutative Geometry at Crossroads
Description
Please be advised that this is an in-person only conference!
Noncommutative geometry (NCG) extends classical geometric intuition to spaces described by noncommutative algebras, revealing their inherently dynamical nature. By uniting operator algebras, spectral methods, and algebraic geometry, it provides a powerful framework with deep ties to topology, number theory, global analysis, representation theory as well as to mathematical physics.
This conference will chart a long-range roadmap for the field, focusing on these interconnected pillars, as well as the all embracing list of fundamental examples of noncommutative spaces ranging from quantum physics to number theory. A central premise of this meeting is that emerging Artificial Intelligence technologies are shifting the boundaries of what is mathematically possible. We aim to identify foundational, long-term goals in NCG that were previously out of reach, and explore how AI-assisted methods—in heavy computation, generating examples, conjecture formulation, and formal verification—can render these intractable problems accessible.
Beyond technical applications, we will critically assess how AI might reshape our research priorities. How do we balance AI-driven results with deep conceptual understanding? How do we separate genuine insight from plausible but unsupported output, and how should we adapt the training of younger researchers?
Combining research lectures, expository talks, and substantial time for open-ended debate, this conference seeks to move beyond isolated technical problems. Our goal is to establish ambitious new research programmes and define the future of noncommutative geometry in a rapidly evolving mathematical landscape.
