The study of super manifolds and supersymmetric manifolds arose out of physics, but in recent years it has become a full-fledged, independent mathematical subject. This talk will introduce the basic notions in the field and will survey some recent breakthroughs concerning the structure of the moduli space of super Riemann surfaces and the natural measure on it.
